Average MPG 64 ford Galaxie with 289 engine?

I want to bring my car to school but i dont want to go broke driving it the 60 miles. I just want a rough estimate of what the MPG is on it. It has the 4 barrel Edelbrok carb and recently it has a new c4 transmission (although its from a 302). I put a new fuel filter and new spark plugs to try and get it more efficient. AlsoI dont know if the glass pipes make a difference.

My guess would be that you have too much carb, for starters.
A Holley 390cfm may be the ticket. Also, a cam kit for RV's
may help. The cam kits aren't real expensive but the carb
may be in the 300 dollar range. The 289 is a long life engine
with a very short stroke relative to its bore. Cam mfgrs. will
steer you straight on which model. If I were to change anything, it would be the aforementioned. Radial tires
properly inflated will help a bit as well. Sounds like a really
nice old Ford you have there.
