What were the years and transmissions Chevy had a big problem blowing out while towing before used Ford trany?

looking at a 89 van that shifts long, seems that may have been the year but I can't find much on it

The Piece O Shat GM 700R4 tranny around 82 - 92 not sure if they put it in Vans

If the tranny shifts long it means it's inner seals are cracked or have a problem, usually from sitting around to long and "drying" out. Don't even touch it unless you don't mind spending for a rebuild of the tranny, which is usually enough to make a "great deal" on such a vehicle, turn into a night mare.
