Suzlon Energy acquires Hansen Transmissions
Edegem, 17 March 2006. – Suzlon Energy Limited and Hansen
Transmissions Int. NV. have announced today that Suzlon Energy
has acquired gearbox manufacturer Hansen Transmissions. Hansen
was in hands of Allianz Capital Partners and Apax Partners Worldwide.
The purchase price is 465 million euros and involves a 100% share
transfer. No further financial information will be disclosed by
both parties.
Indian Suzlon is the fastest growing wind power company in Asia.
In acquiring Hansen Suzlon confirms its ambition to become a leading
wind turbine manufacturer. “Hansen will be run as an independent
business unit. The acquisition enables Suzlon to integrate gearbox
technology in the development of its wind turbines,” says
Tulsi R. Tanti, President of the Board of Directors of Suzlon
Energy. “Hansen’s technology, products, and production
facilities are of the highest quality. The company is led by an
excellent management team,” adds Tanti. Suzlon will continue
to develop its activities in the Asian market together with Hansen.
The strong presence of Hansen in the industrial drive technology
sector is an important dimension that Suzlon will further develop
together with Hansen.
Hansen is pleased about the acquisition as it creates possibilities
for development for the two Belgian plants as well as for its
Asian activities. Matts Lundgren, CEO of Hansen Transmissions,
says: “The acquisition confirms Suzlon’s trust and
confidence to further develop Hansen. We will continue to manage
Hansen as an independent business unit and strive to exceed customer
expectations.”
