Ford truck transmission leaks?
I own a 1970 F250 Ford Ranger which we use as a family do it all truck. The transmission leaks badly. When it has fluid in it, it runs fine, shifts well, and does not slip. However, if you park it for several weeks, the transmission fluid will leak out just sitting there. My budget to get it fixed is limited. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Best case....worse case and approximate ballpark cost to fix it. I suspect it may just need to be resealed, but I'm not a mechanic.

Get under there with a hose and nozzle and a bottle of degreaser. Clean it up and start looking for a leak. The most common is a pan gasket leak, in which case you can tell if the fluid is only on the bottom of the tranny. It might also be leaking between the motor and transmission. That is a tough one to fix.
